6 Warning Signs You Need To Schedule A Women’s Wellness Exam

September 26, 2022 by imperialcenterfamilymedicine

When it comes to health, you may think the headache or backache you are experiencing is another sign of aging-but you should not take any concerns lightly. If you suddenly face anything out of the ordinary, visit your physician to get to the root of the problem. It is recommended that you schedule a women’s wellness exam at least once a year to ensure that their body is fit and healthy.

Warning Signs You Need to Schedule a Women’s Wellness Exam

  1. Headaches

Do you experience severe headaches that worsen day to day? Most headaches are linked with neurological symptoms, a warning sign indicating that you should schedule a wellness exam.

You might also experience the following symptoms with your headaches:

  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Weakness
  • Fidgeting or constantly dropping things
  • Blurry vision

These symptoms should not be ignored as they could be connected with severe health complications, such as high or low blood pressure and the risk of strokes. High blood pressure usually goes undetected until it begins to cause some serious issues linked with cardiac health.

  1. Discomfort in the Chest and Breathing Problems

Men usually complain about a “pressure feeling” when they face cardiac complications. They describe this as intense heaviness or pressure exerted on their chest. However, the feeling is different in women.

When facing cardiovascular problems, women may experience the following:

  • Pain in the back, arms, jaw, neck, or stomach
  • Shaky breathing
  • Intense feelings of fatigue when exercising or walking around
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Sweating randomly

If you do not have any preexisting health conditions but experience these symptoms, consult your physician immediately.

  1. Gut Health Problems

Have you been experiencing abnormalities in your stomach? Do not brush these off as normal bloating and gas problems, as they could be linked with serious issues in the GI tract.

If you are facing any of the issues mentioned below, get in touch with a physician as soon as possible:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Bloating
  • Acid reflux
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Frequent or prolonged diarrhea
  • Blood in stool

Keep in mind that colon cancer is becoming increasingly common in women, largely due to inactivity and improper diet plans. So, if you experience any of these symptoms, consider scheduling a women’s wellness exam.

  1. Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding

A woman experiencing bleeding outside her menstrual cycle must not take this lightly, especially during a child-bearing period. It could indicate that you have reached the menopause stage and have started bleeding again.

Although these issues might seem insignificant if they are not disrupting your everyday life, they could result in fatal health conditions if not timely addressed. Anything out of the ordinary is your body’s way of telling you that something is potentially wrong. Before your innate sense leads you to assume you may have cancer, these symptoms could be a sign of fibroids or endometriosis.

Moreover, it is crucial to keep examining your breasts time and again for the following:

  • Discharge from the nipples
  • Breast redness or discomfort
  • Breast pain
  • Lumps

Based on your family history of medical conditions, have a mammogram screening performed every two years.

  1. Back Ache

Many women stop caring for their bodies as they grow older, assuming they will not need the stamina to work anymore. As you age, your body needs more attention and gentle care. Thus, it is vital to consider strength training exercises and consume sufficient vitamin D and calcium, which help prevent osteoporosis.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, schedule a women’s wellness exam at your earliest convenience:

  • Numbness and tingling in the back or neck
  • Back pain that seems to be only getting worse
  • Midline back pain that flares up at night
  1. Urine Problems

Urine problems

If you find traces of blood in your urine, do not take it lightly. If you experience body pains often, accompanied by a strong urge to urinate, you could be dealing with a serious urinary tract infection (UTI) or a kidney stone.

The best way to keep yourself healthy is by drinking more water. Besides, you should visit your doctor for a quick UTI examination. If you are in your premenopausal or postmenopausal phase, get a women’s wellness exam, as you might be more vulnerable to UTIs due to decreasing estrogen levels in your body.

Women tend to care for everyone around them while neglecting themselves. But ignoring oneself could hurt your loved ones more later in life. This is why a woman should never underestimate the importance of eating healthy, getting consistently good sleep, managing stress, and exercising regularly.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned in this article, schedule a women’s wellness exam today.
